I don't think so because the thin slash is always between 2 or 4 notes not
above or below them like a repeat slash.

so i took darcy's advice and prepared the document in iWork's pages.
quite nice. a couple of questions.
i note that pages converts eps upon import and that the resulting PDF
that i generate is missing some characters from my custom fonts.
however using PDF images in the pages document works

Hi Jef,
Unfortunately, Pages doesn't support this. If you need an image to be exactly
75% of its original size, you have to calculate the dimensions manually and
enter them into the size boxes.
It hasn't been an issue for me -- most often I know the specific dimensions I
want and I don't
Sounds like a tremelo?
Shorthand for alternating the notes as 8ths?

I know a couple of ways, some involvingmore work than others. More
information about why you want / need to do this would allow me to make a

Maybe I wasn't clear about what I wanted to do (renumber the staffs
from top to bottom, 1-2-3, etc)...they had been the residue of a
larger number of staffs, since deleted, After asking my q, I
experimented with an easier way...I used Staff Usage. I selected that

I just had to trash and rebuild my preferences in order to get Finale to

Hi Chuck,
Do you have the Audio MIDI Setup window open, by any chance? Does it go away if
you close it or deselect Test Setup?

Hi Darcy,
I think it started when I was messing with this and opened that window, and
clicked Test Setup. Now I can't seem to get rid of it.
I opened that window again - selected and the deselected Test Setup, and it
still does it.
Obviously - something I've done, but I don't know what.
Hi Chuck,
When it's on (i.e., the button is solid blue instead of gray) Test Setup
makes a noise somewhat like what you describe.
If you turn it on, do you hear two separate chimes, or just the one?

I am considering moving to Mac. Am I going to be able to open my old PC Finale
files?
Is there anything I could do in advance to make the file switch easier? Thanks
for your input.

annoying. anyone have any ideas?

Never mind! It was that the Audio MIDI setup wouldn't quit. As soon as I got
