Re: [Finale] Mac Modeless Plugin Windows
That sounds like the problem is probably Sierra then. Here's some good news: I added JW Copy Part Layout to my list for the modal fix. (And it works equally with 1.03 or 1.04.) So it may be that you'll find it easier to leave it open with that in place. On Mon, Jan 16, 2017 at 9:34 AM, Steve Parkerwrote: > Odd. Odd. It’s definitely 1.04, and definitely in the only plugins folder for 2014.5, replacing the 1.03. Also, the problem is now different. It immediately quits Finale rather than just disappearing. That's weird. I had your identical symptoms with JW Copy Part Layout and 14.5 until I updated to 1.04. I have a hard time believing the problem is Sierra but it might be. The more likely explanation is you copied the 1.04 file to the wrong place, but since you've double checked I'm stumped. I wish the plugin had a way to confirm the version while running. I too find that TG Tools windows seem to take over - I use the add/subtract space in a measure quite a lot, and have to manually close it between uses or it does interfere with normal Finale operation. I’ve never used Jari’s plug-ins -- my use of Finale, though long term, (since v.2.1) has generally been only for lead sheets and tablature so my needs are simple. Hi Robert, TGTools - Modify/Transfer Layout When Jari updates his plugins, this may become superfluous. [Finale] Mac Modeless Plugin Windows
For the non-techie, a "modeless" window is one that you can click away from without dismissing the window. Document windows and palettes are example of modeless windows. As are some plugin windows. A long-standing irritation with Mac modeless plugin windows is that when a dialog box pops up, the modeless window grabs focus away from the document window. (This behavior dates back to the OSX transition and Finale 2004.) I recently discovered a near-trivial program change that fixes this problem for Mac Fin2014.5 and higher. I am working on an update to my plugin suite that fixes all of my modeless windows. (These include Mass Copy, Page Title Copy, Copyist Helper, among others.) Using the new versions feels like someone stopped beating me in the head. I have also figured out a way to solve the problem for windows I don't own. But doing so demands a conservative approach. The list of non-owned windows I'm willing to tickle must be short and well-defined. So far it is a list of one: Space Systems. My question for the list is, other than my suite and Space Systems, what other modeless windows would you like to be able to leave open on the desktop but can't because of this problem? ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
