They are just DIFFERENT issues. Re: [Finale] Links to really insulting answers from MakeMusic
On Finale 2014 - I do mostly guitar tablature. I have closed files that look perfectly good, and when I re-open I have often found measures where the music, or part of the music, is missing, or some of the tab is missing. It may be a function of copy and paste, but it is unpredictable and seems to come from nowhere. When I try to fix the measures, mainly trying to use copy and paste, I get additional problems such as the music disappearing from where I'm pasting from. I sometimes, not always by any means, get a message on opening the file: Deleted Items Statistics. File integrity test results. This file may be missing a few notes or rests. I have gone back to using 2012, despite _its_ problems. I don't know what else to do. I open a file to make a pdf or something, and things are screwed up. I've had problems, but nothing like that. That would really mess you up. I am utterly bewildered that so much time has passed since the announced move and the company seems to have no interest in putting out anything resembling a road map. Most companies would have made a priority of speaking to its customers by now. I am guessing that this Peaksware outfit and its VC masters has never had a business where they had a significant user base. ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
Re: [Finale] Links to really insulting answers from MakeMusic
I would be the first to line up to trash MM if I thought they deserved trashing (and often I do) but here I think the culprit is Apple. Apple has consistently show a callous disregard for 3rd-party developer and gave up on backward compatibility in the 90s when they allowed Steve Jobs to transform the Mac platform into the Nexus. It has paid off big for Apple, so I can hardly blame them, but they simply don't care about making sure existing 3rd party apps continue to work under new OS's. Hence, I years ago quite upgrading until I had to. I will certainly not be taking the Yosemite upgrade any time soon. It is difficult for me to understand what it is you expect MM to do. They don't have the resources to patch versions before the current version. Would you be happy if MM issued a patch with any fixes needed to bring Fin14 fully functional in Yosemite? If so, I would let Customer Support know. In the meantime, I would investigate downgrading to Mavericks. It's a pain, but it is perfectly doable, and if you need Fin12 playback you'll basically have to. To be fair to Apple, they do publish extensive developer guidelines concerning how to craft a program. This is mainly for the AppStore, but if a developer does this then generally their program works just fine. I have several programs that haven't been updated that work just fine in 10.10. Re: [Finale] Links to really insulting answers from MakeMusic
I'm running OS 10.8.5 and FinMAc 12. I have 14 but have never installed it. I used to have to krrp up with publisher who used the latest and greatest but that's not something I have to do at the moment, What I need to do I can do with almost no pain. Reading the posts about 14 and the Mac OS's makes me think I'd be crszy to change anything, being as how it all works for me. I might enjoy some of new features but nt enough for the pain elsewhere. ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
