Yes I know I can do that. But I have linked parts and adding an invisible first measure creates too many other problems to overcome. Re: [Finale] Vertical Text
Pardon me, but what about using Microsoft Word, or any other word processing program for this? If the title page has no music on it, that's how I would do it, rather than trying to force Finale to do something it wasn't designed to do. The right tool for the right job, and all. As long as it looks good when it prints out. On Wed, 7 Oct 2015 14:10:06, Ryan Beardwrote: > > > Yes I know I can do that. Thanks. I'll check out those links. The text will appear on a cover page. Custom Smart Shapes are required to be attached to a staff. There is no music on the page, so there is nothing to attach the shape. On Wed, Oct 7, 2015 at 12:12 PM, Jan Angermüllerwrote: > Have you searched for sideways/vertical fonts ? Re: [Finale] Vertical Text
If all you need is vertically oriented text without rotation of the letters, you can use the standard frame options on a page title to do it. If you need the letters to rotate, the only solution I know is a custom shape. Perhaps you could place an invisible bar of music on your title page. Ugly, but it will work. Re: [Finale] Vertical Text
You could export a graphic either out of Finale or other program and then place it on the page. Unfortunately there are numerous buggy hurdles with this approach, but it can be done. For vector graphics you must use EPS. I so wish Finale supported importing PDF as a graphic. There really is no excuse that they don't. Shy of using EPS (which is buggy) you can export a TIFF. (FWIW: I always bite the bullet and use EPS.) On Wed, Oct 7, 2015 at 10:37 AM, Ryanwrote: > It's on a title page, and there are linked parts involved. Re: [Finale] Vertical Text
Fair point. I do indeed want rotated text, both 90° and -90°. Thanks for helping me clarify. How about using a vertical text font like "Berlin" ? See http://www.musegraph.com/fontinfo.html Am 07.10.2015 um 20:18 schrieb Ryan: > Fair point. Re: [Finale] Vertical text
Is there any way to create vertical text (ie running bottom-to-top)? I'm wanting it for a 'completion date' after a final barline. Yes, use the Custom Line Tool. Set line thickness to 0. Put text in the 'Center Full' option. Select and Ctrl-click in the score. Drag to tilt. Richard Yates ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

Richard Yates écrit: Yes, use the Custom Line Tool. Set line thickness to 0. Put text in the 'Center Full' option. Select and Ctrl-click in the score. Drag to tilt. Hey, this is brilliant! I had no idea one could put text instead of the line. Thanks, Richard. And thanks to Owain for asking! Now, is it possible to copy such a custom line from one file to another? Yes, Robert G. Patterson's Settings Scrapbook plugin can copy these Custom Line Definitions to all open documents.
