There was no answer. None from me, because I don't know anything about
this. I
got the .xinitrc running. Starts but then displays message:
The panel encountered and error while loading OAFIID:GNOME-MixerApplet
Details: Failed to activate OAFIID:GNOME-MixerApplet
Then gives me the option to delete or not. Click no and windows goes
away and everything seems o.k.

Victory! Finally got it to install!
Now to run it I know I need to modify my x-tad-bigger.xinitrc file. Stupid question but what directory is this in?

Your home directory. But you have to create it before you can modify it.

I'm nearly down to the end with gnome-bundle 2.4 on Fink, but it dies
when trying to install control-center. Here's the output:

Still can't tell if i have it installed right but i suspect not.
Have to look pretty far up in the log to find this:
