I'm doing a fresh build of fink using the bootstrap.sh from 0.6.0
and am running into problems. This is on a new 15" PowerBook running
10.2.8.

As it says, you need gcc 3.3 enabled to use this version of fink. Try
running 'sudo gcc_select 3.3' (then enter your administrator password)
and try re-running fink selfupdate. That might clear up the issue.
