Is someone planning to package emacs 23? It's now stable (according
to gnu.org).

I am thinking about tackling (once more) the idea of adding TeXLive to
Fink (unless someone is already working on it -- I haven't been
reading the posts recently); but there is a problem standing in my
way. TeXLive is distributed as a .tar.lzma file, and needs lzma to
unpack it.

I have done some validating on packages in the tracker, and have added
comments, but I don't have the ability to modify the

When I tried to do something like this I was shot down; told that the
fink core team was reconsidering the whole issue of "system-"
packages, and that, specifically, system-texlive was NOT going to
happen. I then started an effort to package TeX Live in such a way
as to make it fink-friend

Poly/ML is an implementation of the ML programming language. As such,
it has an interpreter which basically just loads the Poly/ML library
and runs it. It is possible to have a program that uses the Poly/ML
library but doesn't need the interpreter.
The current version of Poly/ML
So now I'm going to have polyml5 and polyml1-shlibs as a SplitOff?

I have a question. First the background. I have a package that I'm
currently working on (polyml5), and it builds a shared library. The
package is at version 5.1, and the shared library that it builds is
libpolyml.1.dylib. This library has the appropriate install-name and

I currently have two new packages and two updates in the tracker:
1) sml-mode update to version 4, and I'm volunteering to take over as
maintainer;
2) ProofGeneral update to 3.7 final -- I'm the maintainer and
submitting an upgrade;
3) Isabelle 2007 -- new package; and
4) polyml5 --
The last time you took a hiatus you mooted the idea of documenting the
validation process so that others could do it. Did you get anywhere
with that?

The polyml5, isabelle-polyml5, and proofgeneral packages are sitting
on the tracker waiting for something to happen (status is undergoing
validation). I believe it would be a good idea for something to
happen to them.

I have a question about how to create a package. There seems to be a
conflict between Fink guidelines and Apple guidelines. I suppose
this is inevitable, but I'd like to know what the group's preferred
resolution is. Here is the problem:
I'm trying to package ANTLRWorks, which is a GUI fr
No, you can't use %p in a patch file. The preferred method,
apparently, is to put something like:
@PREFIX@ in the patch file where you would want %p, then use:
PatchScript: sed 's|@PREFIX@|%p|g' <%a/%n.patch | patch -p1
in your .info file.
See the packaging manual.

I am finishing up my work on a system-texlive package. It will also
have tetex-base-texlive and tetex-texmf-texlive packages. With these
three packages most, or at least many, packages will be able to work
with TeX Live that currently require teTeX. The current status of

I have an interest in seeing that TeX remains available through Fink,

I'm working on an update to the aspectj port, and I need advice on
what to fill in for the License field. The current value is OSI-
Approved, which is probably incorrect. AspectJ (TM) is distributed
under the EPL, which is OSI-Approved, but it includes Third Party
