After some more tests, it is now clear that the problem really comes
from Fink's binary installer that is conspiring with Apple's buggy
Installer.app to make the machine unbootable.
To reproduce the problem:
Install fink-0.4.1 using its binary installer. Everything is fine, i.e.
the permission
