That's a good idea, except bundle-gnome needs it and as a result fink wants to
install librep-dev and shlibs, (hi, David M.) which will lead back to the
Good morning,
Anyone notice at the login panel when you hit a console to start an X
session, exec startx isn't needed anymore for a clean logout? Not
only that, when the X session is exited, you're sent back to your

I don't think it's due to xemacs, but rather to the new xfree

The problem was caused by the latest versin of dlcompat (20020527).
Downgrading dlcompat fixed it (no recompile of xemacs needed)

Hi, I had a question about X.
I'm wondering if anyone has been able to get XFree86 4.2(the one from
the XonX project) to bring a server up in a window. It seems to only
run rootless or fullscreen, but not in a quartz window as it is
documented to support.
I have tried all the relavant

from Apple so not to be taken by surprise when official release comes
out.

Yes
I hadn't heard about that--can you direct me to where you got the info?
I assume it's supposed to be like X servers for OS 10, where the X
display root is a window in and of itself?

There's a new release of dlcompat out (20020606-1). I'll have to build
xemacs again (it was uninstalled and I flushed out my debs to provide space
to build KDE) to check it out, but maybe you can test it.
