The "best" overview I can find of the changes in the April edition is:

http://developer.apple.com/tools/macosxtools.html

The biggie for Fink users is the introduction of gcc3. Apparently it isn't
turned on by default, but it in theory should work better & faster than the
gcc2.95 that were previously available. In practice, it seems like there are
still bugs to work out, and Apple still seems to consider the kit as "beta"
quality.

IMO, most Fink users will probably have fewer headaches with the December
version until the gcc3 issues are ironed out. I'm also eager to try the
April version, but I'm not comfortable with all the bugs people have been
reporting (even if most of them seem to be related to xfree86).

YMMV. HTH. HAND.
