So, i went to update fink on my wife's Intel machine [it hasn't been
updated in a LONG time]. Anyway, i stumbled into a problem with
trackballs apparently needing the guile-1.8 executable [i have the
1.6 executable and shlibs for both]:

I have in tree /local/pangocairo /local/pangociro/crypto in fink.conf.
When I do fink selfupdate and i check /sw/fink/dists/local/pangocairo/
crypto I do nor see a finkinfo directory. So no packages are being
directed to gnome for instance. What do I have to tell fink to set
this up?

I had assumed that you had checked them out yourself from CVS and were
commenting about the lack of a finkinfo directory
The Trees: line of fink.conf just tells fink the base paths to search.
If there's no finkinfo directory _somewhere_ in those, fink won't take
note of any packages in them.
