Hello Rakesh,
If you have installed FB's SuperServer version then it can handle many
connections with the same user name and passoword without any problems. What
is the configuration of the PC on which you are running FB?

without machine.config to update, .reg to merge absolutly nothing

Probably. Somebody should create some installer. The "only" problem is
to detect VS a install appropriate reg file. You wanna contribute?

Hello,
also check out this link:
http://www.firebirdsql.org/dotnetfirebird/blob-reading-example-csharp.html
It is for C#, but the principle is the same and you should be able to
transfer it with very small changes to VB.net

Using that file (with the 8.0 to 9.0 change) It crashes without explanation
when attempting to choose 'New Connection'.

I never get to the 'Add new connection' screen. I just click the 'New
Connection' button and the window disappears and nothing more happens. If I try
to add a new connection without having opened up a project it says that the
firebird provider has encountered an unexpected error.

I found an older version, 2.0.1 to be exact, and that worked like a charm. So
there's nothing wrong with my installation, all I did was exchange the
FirebirdSql.VisualStudio.DataTools.dll for an earlier version and everything
worked just fine.
Thanks for trying to help me out guys.

Hi,
I'm not sure to understand what you did:
You installed the version 2.0.1 of what ? Data provider or DDEX ?

I didn't change the install at all. All I did was switch to an earlier version
of the FirebirdSql.VisualStudio.DataTools.dll. As in actually replacing the
file in my installation folder (while of course saving a copy of the old one)
with the older one.
I still have version 2.5.0.0 of the provid
clearer indeed :)
I'm very interested, where did you find it ?

In my trashcan. Sometimes it pays to forget to empty it. The 2.0.3 install was
an upgrade so I used my old file.
