One of the best books is Head First Design Patterns.
Really nice code. Well explained and shows how to get a lot of mileage
out of code through thoughtful design.
It will make you a better coder and get you thinking about design in new
ways.

suggestion :), actually I've already heard head first dp is really good, I
might look into it soon!
I've also found that FriendsofEd has many good books that focus on
(graphics/web) design subjects.
