RE: [Flashcoders] update tween value while running
As far as I know, you have to stop the tween a start a new one. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jagadishwaran Sent: quarta-feira, 26 de Julho de 2006 0:14 To: flashcoders@chattyfig.figleaf.com Subject: [Flashcoders] update tween value while running Hi there, I've got a question about updating actionscript tweens in real time. When for example you use the mx.transitions.Tween class and have an object move from x value 50 to 100, how would you go about updating that end value while the tween is running? If you update the x value manually the tween onMotionChanged event overrides it during the next cycle. You could stop the tween and start a new one based on the updated end value and calculate how much of the duration is left but if you apply any easing that doesn't do the trick. Any thoughts on how to handle this? Would really like to find a clean solution to do it so I can still keep using the Tween class rather than scripting the calculation myself and checking end value every frame or x milliseconds. Question basically is how I can update the value of an object that is being tweened without it being overwritten and/or changing the end value of a tween. Thanks for any advice! The problem is the first tests of pre-production samples demonstrated a performance so astonishingly low that it would be out of the question and even fatal to launch video cards in such a bad condition on to the market. RE: [Flashcoders] Tell me more about _global
Supported! I dare to add a few thoughts of me own. A good application is one that works, an excellent application is one that works fast. That said and with utra-tight deadlines together with designers having to open my fla so they can make it pretty while I make the next app, _global rules! This of course doesn't apply to frameworks and such, but still there's room for everything. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steven Sacks Sent: quarta-feira, 1 de Fevereiro de 2006 19:43 To: 'Flashcoders mailing list' Subject: RE: [Flashcoders] Tell me more about _global Let's make classes for everything. Let's code everything in one frame when working closely with designers so we can make them feel stupid and helpless when they go into our application and can't find anything and we can feel so superior to them because it's so obvious and now we have to walk them through it and by doing so can show them how smart and clever we are. Let's stroke our egos to prove what smart coders we are and program job security into our applications by making it extremely difficult for our clients to hire anyone else to work on our code, especially considering we might not be available (busy, vacation, dead) to help walk anyone through the complicated messaging system we've put into place to do something as simple as storing global variables. RE: [Flashcoders] Tell me more about _global
Fast ones :D 7/10 are interactive advertising, which means that I have usually 2 weeks(at best) to do something that doesn't relate and never had the time to make me own framework. Still I insist in a one frame architecture, and leave the all the item in the library for the designers. RE: [Flashcoders] Learn AS2 or AS3?
Not really, if you use AS2 in all it's strictness and to it's full extent, classes and properly it's not a big change in the logic itself, only a little change in the syntax. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Judah Frangipane Sent: sexta-feira, 21 de Outubro de 2005 16:20 To: Flashcoders mailing list Subject: Re: [Flashcoders] Learn AS2 or AS3? This may be a little late to this conversation but I'd have to disagree. I would learn AS3 and skip AS2. You can only learn and experiment with AS3 in Flex Builder 2 (as far as i know) since Flash Authoring (the next version of Flash) is not out yet. Looking at the specs and transitions from AS2 to AS3 a lot has changed. Look at this list http://livedocs.macromedia.com/labs/1/flex/langref/migration.html In fact it's a whole new engine reworked from the ground up. Some functions have changed, moved or been removed so you are going to learn about a lot of syntax and methods and functions and by the time you learn it and get it down you will have to throw it out because AS3 is vastly different. It's just a personal opinion but this late in the game it might just end up confusing you to learn AS2 now. Judah Frangipane Merrill, Jason wrote: Pretty much everything you'll learn in Moock's AS2 book, you'll need for AS3, so learning AS2 is a great place to start. Plus, there aren't any AS3 books out there yet anyway. I have never really got around to learning AS2 and tend to program everything in AS1 - tutt tutt!! Anyway I was thinking it is about time I got with the times and was going to start working through the book I bought a while ago Essential Actionscript 2 by Colin Moock. I bought this a while ago but never got round to reading it. Well there is alot of talk about AS3 these days. I would like to know if is better to just learn AS3 rather than AS2 first? Or does one naturally lead onto the other?
