I am looking for tips/experiences for a simple/intuitive and affordable gantt
based (offline) planning tool which should run on Windows vista.
Which tools are you using to plan your Flash projects and why would you
recommend it?

Flash sandy is nice but im currently experimenting with papervision.
Flash sandy is great though it needs some development for as3.
Papervision has an as3 version currently which supports imports form 3dsmax
and maya.
i have been playing with papervision for about 2 days now the things you can

So Sandy is the same as papervision or more difficult?

to install flash sandy you need to add the two libarys. got to flash edit

the two libarys the sandy one and the other one i forget the name. do the
same by clicking the actionscript2 button in your publish settings. How i

If you are using Mindmanager, you will probably like Compendium. It
includes support for transclusion which allows a map of multiple
dimensions to be created easily. This eliminates the need for all of the
arrows in MindManager.
It is FREE and easy to install (can use your existing JVM but
Hi Ron, thanks for the reply and the suggestion! Compedium seems very
interesting indeed! Downloading it right now :D
Cheers,
Marcelo.

Ok, this may be a silly question, but I would really like to know your
opinions on how you handle project documentation workflow.

Some time ago I took on a project for a client for whom I had previously
executed several projects successfully. The Flash project had been attempted
by someone else earlier, and abandoned after some 30 lines of actionscript
code - it was essentially an animation, nothing more. Their
Hi Ville,
First up, you have my sympathy - I know what it's like working with
difficult clients like this! It sounds like you've found yourself in a
situation where the client's lack of technical knowledge means they
undervalue what you have done and are capable of.

I worked on it and squeezed it out narrowly by the deadline they had set.
They were not happy at all. Supposedly the program is not useable by

(for reasons that haven't been explained to me, even though everything
that
was initially asked was implemented), and supposedly the code is too
as someone that has experienced the pain of taking on jobs that other
developers abandonded and having to work with what they left, I would
absolutely not have a problem with what you left...i may not agree
with how you've done everything, but there is nothing there to say
that this code is
that a client relationship had to be destroyed in
the process.

I worked
billed for. Thus unless a project is very large, it's generally not worth
client's while to have a binding estimate created as it consumes time that
otherwise could already be used for developing the project.
You're right, a binding estimate is not always worthwhile, but a binding

Has anybody had luck (good or bad) with the project panel in flash 8?
2 of us are trying to work on a project using the project panel's
check-in/check-out.
I created a site, put the code up on a FTP server. All good... But when I add a
file to the project, the other guy can't see the new file.
Files aren't automatically added to the project when they're created.
You have to add them manually.
Honestly, aside from the ability to publish lots of files in a batch,
the project panel is pretty useless. I use the project features of my
text editor to work with my FLA/AS files instead.
deja-vu?
