Heh. On my MBP and even on my new iMac, compilation from Builder just takes
weeks. Apparently if you switch to ant and mxmlc it's a lot faster, but it's
just the way it is. I suppose you might save some time if you put the
compiler jars, library .swcs and your code on a flashdrive? Haven't tried

matter how much memory we have, java development will be stuck in 4 gigas,

A few things:
Builder doesn't need to start an external JVM, it's Java.
I don't think Eclipse runs on 64 bit Java
x86 has had a 48 bit address bus since the Pentium Pro, so you can have 16gb
in 32bit mode (using iirc 4mb instead of 4k pages).
