[flexcoders] Flex Component Kit and RSL

Hello Everyone,


Does anyone already tried before to use the SWC component generated by the
Flex Component Kit as a RSL?

I'm trying that but it seems it doesn't cause any effect over the swf size.
Probably all SWC components generated by the FCK have linkage type *"merged
into the code".*

Any help is welcome.

I know CS3 needed the flex component kit.  Does CS4 need it as well?

Its confusing because this page:

which is for CS4, sends you to the component page, but the component page only 
mentions CS3.

[flexcoders] Flex component kit - ContainerMovieClip content scaleX/scaleY changes...

Hi,

I'm using the flex component kit to create custom skinned containers.
It all works fine, except for one very annoying thing:
When I change the container width/height, the "content" scaleX and
sclaeY are being changed instead of the width/height.

This causes some really nasty effect.
For example, the TextArea's focus rectangle is stretched..grr..this
seems ugly.

Has anyone have experienced that sort of thing?

[flexcoders] Flex Component Kit - trouble with FlexContentHolder

I have converted my symbol to Flex Conatiner via the commands and then
added the FlexContentHolder to the symbol and gave it an instance name
of contentHolder. I get this error:

Cannot create property contentHolder on...

If I don't give the FlexContentHolder an instance name it is ignored.
What gives?

[flexcoders] Flex Component Kit w/ Sound Clip

I am trying to use the Flex Component Kit to turn a Flash 9 symbol 
into a Flex component.  I've got everything working except for a sound 
clip that plays fine in Flash, but not in Flex.  I've tried everything 
that I can think of and looked everywhere, but I can't get the sound 
to play in Flex.  Is there a known issue with sound clips and the Flex 
Component Kit or am I missing something?

In Flex, components are constructed, then their properties are set.  I
would expect you to have the same problem in Flash if you did

Yeah, flexbuilder has a bug, because I retyped the exact line and then 
it worked fine.  Also, the refresh issue is a quirk too - but at least I 
know about it.

I have some issues with how flex integrates UIMovieClip.

OK SWFLoader is a UIComponent, so you can apply effects to it like any 
other UIComponent.  But you can't use that to call methods etc...(I 
never messed with local Connection class yet ;)

However, UIMovieClip does support calling methods and events... but it 
can't have effects applied to it because it's not a UIComponent in the 
flex sort of
of way.  So, Now I realize after a day of messing around that I can't do 
what I want to do with Flex in this fashion, maybe
I could use the localConnection class to call methods,  I guess i expect 
a component called UIMagic that does everything.

Any suggestions on how to do both, ok now to read up localconnection class.

[flexcoders] Flex Component Kit Issue: mx.core.IFlexDisplayObject marked as extern

I am getting an error in a large Flex project when trying to use a SWC 
that was produced with the Flex Component Kit in Flash CS3:

Inconsistant linkage in DownloadProgress.swc(mx/core/IFlexDisplayObject) 
- 'mx.core:IFlexDisplayObject' is marked as extern, but 
'mx.core.IFlexDisplayObject' is not.

Unless I missed something, adding the SWC to the project should be 
pretty straight forward. I have set up a small test application where I 
am not getting the error.

Anyone run into this issue?

If the MXML file isn't too big, can you post the contents?

The MXML file is a regular ASCII file that you can edit in any text 
editor. If FB has an issue parsing the code for design view it usually 
means that the file contains some illegal code.

No, no errors. It runs perfectly it just doesn't display within FB.  
Wether I run it nromal or in debug mode, what shows in the browser

Ok, i have managed to create a small component in flash and load it in 
flex, work great, tho i have one problem.

As the class i created extends uimovieclip, flex sees it as movieclip, 
but i need the property's of a button. Actualy i need autoRepeat 
property of a button. Does anyone know how to get flex to see my 
component as a button?

Fixed! I didn't have the correct version of 2.0.1. Ran the latest update and
now works a charm.

I think this is related to me updating Eclipse 3.2. Because I created a new
mxml file and got all the errors listed in post #60878

I will try to resolve this 1st and then see if the other errors still
appear.

I think this is related to me updating Eclipse 3.2. Because I created a new
mxml file and got all the errors listed in post #60878

I will try to resolve this 1st and then see if the other errors still
appear.

Tell us exactly where things are set up:
 
What is the filename of the MXML file you have listed here?
When you created the component in Flash, what is classname you used for
what you exported?
Did you write any actionscript code for the Flash components or just do
the symbol example?

Hi Matt,

 

I didn't know about packages. Assumed they were to do with SDK not Flex
Builder. Any how, I found it and renamed the package and the swc file. OS
that the mxml file and all 3 elements names are unique.

But, I still get the same error!
