Many besides myself have reported the following problem with the setup-test
function. when the test button is pressed there is no tone coming out of either
speaker. We are all using the delta44 sound card. This function used to work
up until about 3 months ago

Dale is correct. This is a well known problem especially in the Dell Optiplex
GX 270. The capacitors were manufactured by Nichinon. I purchased a GX270 last
year and luckily, It didn't have those capacitors. Here is a link to the info
about them including a picture.
I use MEMTEST86 to test aggressive RAM timing values. Most RAM today comes
with the rated speed/timing specs called SPD settings. You see it listed as a
value like 4-4-4-12
It stands for:
CAS Latency
RAS to CAS Delay
RAS Precharge
RAS Active Time
These settings are usually a bit conservative
