I can obviously understand that anomolies will pop up in these alpha/beta
software versions because that is what testing is all about. I just wanted
to make the powers that be are aware of the fact that these AGC anomolies on
AM have been incorporated in the latest offical release, 1.18.0.

Kevin,
Before you wipe take a look at Windows 7, very nice IMO.

Hi Simon
Thanks ... I have struggled with Vista x64 for 6 months ... I honestly don't
mind it for my personal use, but it doesn't play well with the Flex-5000A /
PowerSDR (at least not for me). It hangs all the time, I am running in Test
Mode so that I can get CW Skimmer to run with it, etc. And
One option is to partition the disk, install XP and Windows 7. The release
candidate of Windows 7 is free and an XP = W7 upgrade is ~ $49 later this
year.
When you wipe make a note of the VISTA licence key should you decide to
revisit the dark side later :)

Kevin,
What you are experiencing is, unfortunately, not that uncommon with the life
cycle of Windows operating systems. While FlexRadio has done a good job of
making PowerSDR and the FLEX Firewire driver 100% compatible with Vista x86 and
x64 operating systems (and initial testing indicates

I'm very sorry, but when I intended to say VERY FAVORABLES the spell
corrector changed it to the opposite meaning.
In fact, before the said AGC changes, the SDR-1000 behavior in AM was
less than desirable and often I used to select USB or LSB for SW BC.

Thanks for the suggestion, no joy, however, the disable box is not
checked. Tried it with MON on and off. It shows the MON button
lighting when it keys, but no audio. I suspect a routing problem of
some variety, as I have plenty of audio on the receive side.
Something is getting muted.
With XP Home you can't join a domain, I think you can't use a computer with
multiple CPU chips.

If you end up turning off unnecessary processes on the system you are
going to turn off all the pro features anyway.

Carl,
I don't think any recal would be necessary. I don't know whether the IF can
be set to a negative number or not in the GUI. It ultimately just sets the
DSP software oscillator, but obviously there is alot of other stuff tied up
with the IF (tuning details, etc).

I assume you are using PowerSDR v1.18.0. If so, you are doing nothing wrong.
There is a CAT bug (that is fixed in the SVN Trunk and branches/test) that
doesn't allow the ZZTX command (PTT) to work properly. The upcoming version
1.18.1, due sometime next week will contain the fix.
-Tim
OK...so I vaguly remember some discussion. I am on 1.18.0
So other than going to Pretty Betty, or SVN version, is there a workaround for
now?
Thanks
