EXCELLENT video description of the issue, ke5akl!
As a (mostly) digital mode op, I have the exact same issue... On 20, I'd
like to watch the area from about 14069 and up on the panadapter.
For ME, having a more fully featured implementation of the sub-receiver
on VFO-B would be a sufficient

Hi;
I have an essentially brand new Shuttle Pro 2 that I got with my Flex-5000A
and never used. If anyone wants it, you can make me offer off list. (hope
this post is acceptable)

I have a net at 8pm mdt on our local club machines, but it'd be nice to
get on 40 for grins to compare notes and etc. it's actually easier for me than
the net on 20 on sundays at this point.

Some have been interested in trying to get a 40 Meter net going, and
maybe evenings. How about Tuesday nights, at 7 PM Central (8 PM
Eastern) , and try to find a good frequency between 7180 to 7200, try
that first. I know of a
A friend gave me a Griffin yesterday. I was thinking of adding it to my 5000a
setup. Iam happy with the mouse and the way it works for me,Is the griffin
worth the effort? Was just wondering what anyone else thought of the power mate
and it use with power sdr.

I used mine for a short period of time on my 3K. I noticed that if you spun
the knob too fast, the software would freeze until it caught up. Other than
that, it worked ok. I too prefer the mouse.

Dale,
I bought a Griffin PowerMate with my SDR-1000 in January 2006. I quickly
disconnected it put it in a drawer. Actually, I have it hooked up now
with its default settings. I feed the FLEX-5000A audio output back into the
PC soundcard. The PowerMate makes a really good volume control --
I agree with Ray on this. I bought the Griffin before I bought my
first Flex (largely in anticipation of getting a radio to use with
it). When I finally did get a Flex, I found my whole way of looking
at radio operating changed. With a conventional radio you tune with a
knob in your hand and

I bought my SDR-1000. I set it up, used it for a few days and then stopped
using it once I realized that the Flex is really a visually interactive radio
and the mouse, with its planer multiple degrees of freedom,

Click tuning is fine.
Using the mouse to control vfo is fine

I think the Griffin is very handy. Use it for tuning sometimes, but it
is nice for adjusting the AGC.
Easy to program.

Brian,
Yes, the fine tuning is done by ear. However, I use the mouse wheel for
that. When operating SSB, I can click on a signal, quickly right-click to
turn off the crosshairs, and then use the mouse wheel for fine adjustment of
the frequency. In CW or digital modes, I expand the Panadapter
