[Flexradio] Flex Audio

2012-03-01 Thread Robert Costa, KB6QXM
Another question from a newbie perspective. Instead of configuring VAC to direct the audio output to the output jack, why can't we use our computer's sound card. If you have a 5.1 or 7.1 HTPC soundcard, wouldn't it be feasible to direct audio from RX1 to one set of speakers and audio from RX2

[Flexradio] Stereo Diversity

2012-03-01 Thread Rob Keijzer
Hi everybody, Would it be possible to have RX1 and RX2 of the Flex5kA synchronised and both receivers have antennas far apart, and thus create a stereophonic image in your headphones? I mean one receiver to the left ear, second receiver to the right ear. Imagine how this spacial acoustic image

Rob: I would think that one antenna vertically polarized and one antenna horizontally polarized, in (approximately) the same location, would be decorrelated enough for this to work without wide distance antenna separation. If they are the same polarization, then they should be at least 10

[Flexradio] Laptops Flex Radios

2012-03-01 Thread Ktfrog007
Hi, I am interested in getting a 3000 and want to run it from a laptop (for portability reasons). I do not currently have a laptop which would be suitable and I have never owned one with FireWire capability as far as I know. Is it possible to use a laptop with any of the Flex Radios,

I agree with you completely Dick. The Flex 5K is the king of multi-mode rigs when it comes to running AM. It runs circles around my big plate modulated rigs in the areas of fidelity, asymmetry, brickwall bandwidth control, and ease of use. Add to that the synchronous detector and independently

Kermit, I am currently using an HP Probook fairly current model, win 7 8g memory with pc express slot. In that slot I have a firewire card with the TI chipset. I can't tell you the brand as I don't remember. This combination works just as well as the home computer, and the CW latency is

Here's a word of warning: Got everything on the Flex 1500 running including FlexKnob, MMTTY, Writelog, VAC and virtual ports software. Hey great! So figured I go modern and plug in a wireless keyboard and mouse. The wireless devices grabbed ports that caused the FlexKnob to disappear and while

I'm using a Dell M5030 laptop with my 1500. Has worked great since got the combination in October 2011. Very little cw latency and not hinder my sending CW. Code speed usually at around 30 wpm or higher. Bob, NZ5A Sent from my iPhone On Mar 1, 2012, at 11:35 AM, ktfrog...@aol.com wrote:

Does anyone have a circuit for using a hand key in parallel with the keyer in the 1500? I used a diode draw down circuit for my K2. I am aware of the iambic on/off toggle on the 1500 and it works. But I have to move the mouse, switch iambic off, move my hand to the hand key, send with the

[Flexradio] TX delay Flex-1500

Hello, I work for about 4 week in BPSK31 with FLDIGI and my Flex-1500. I found a delay difference e.g. between 20m and 40m. In 20m the tx starts quite direct if i click a macro or the tx button in FLDIGI. In 40m is a delay of about 2s. The PTT switch behavior is the same on 20 and 40. But in
