Thanks for the pointer.
Since I was not sure which rate you were pointing to as being the
preferred, I tried both. I found that setting everything to 48khz
caused the voice to sound like I was talking through a fan on low
(buffering issue?), but setting the VAC lines in wi
Thanks for the suggestion Ray. I tried both larger (up to 300) and
smaller (down to 20) values, and the problem persists, including the
way it gets worse over time.

Hi,
I originally posted a version of this to N1MM's reflector, but further
troubleshooting points to PowerSDR so I'll continue my quest here.
Environment:
Windows 7 64bit
N1MM Logger V11.6.4
FlexRadio Flex-3000 with PowerSDR 2.0.22
Playback occurs over Virtual Audio Cables (VAC) 4.10.0.2537

Fantastic! After reading Mike's comment I had a look- my old mic was
dynamic, and the new one is electret. This link to the knowledgebase
helped me get this problem solved tout de suite. Thanks all around,
I'm back in action.

Hi,
I haven't used my F3K for anything other than digital modes for a long
time. Voice used to work fine with the same equipment I am using now,
but no luck.
With the radio on dummy load, I downloaded PSDR 2.0.22, did the
factory defaults reset, went to the voice band of 20 meters, chose
USB, and
I should also address that three different brands of firewire cable
have been tried at this point, none of which make any difference- once
the thing goes bad it's bad until a full 8 hours or more of rest.
Apparently there's some capacitor discharging in there which
eventually lets things reset and
Thanks Neal for the very sensible idea, but I think I've ruled that
out as this problem has occurred on two completely different computers
(same chipset though). If the computers both have an identical design
flaw, that seems possible, but the far more likely situation seems to
me that the Flex is
As I dreaded, my Flex is unusable this weekend. Well, on the bright
side, it did give me a chance to try all of these suggestions, and
nothing worked.
Tried setting power profile to "high performance"
Tried manually disabling the firewire device in the device manager and
re-enabling.
Tried reboo
Hi guys,
My new F3K mysteriously came back to "life" after sitting overnight,
no changes to the configuration. Hopefully that's just a fluke, I'd
hate to have to turn it off overnight on a contest weekend to get it
going again.
So today I made my first couple of PSK QSOs with it, and everything
Hi,
I have it on a battery system big enough to run my Kenwood through an
entire contest weekend, so I have confidence that there are plenty of
amps & volts for it. The connections are solid too. The Flex does
power up and I hear one relay click when it does.
Removing the monitor from the compu
Hi,
Got my F3K in the mail yesterday, and took a little time this
afternoon to try it out.
It worked fine for quite awhile, I got VAC going and com0com, got
transmit going into the dummy load and it all worked pretty good with
a few easily solved issues along the way.
But then I decided to insta
