Now that the VAC is implemented, how long will it be before the digital
modes are enabled? I think Bob mentioned the code has been ready.
Recommend when you do, that when clicking on RTTY or PSK (one for SSTV too?)
that the VAC is automatically enabled. When click any other mode it

Hi Leon,
For QSOs with
V31MD send SASE via guidance on qrz.com. If you talked with any of the SDR team
members under their own calls you should send your card and SASE to that team
member (also qrz.com info for each; V31LL=WO0Z, V31SR=AA4SW, V31TG=AB5K, and

I cannot see how this would work without considerably more effort than
anticipated for version 1.0 of this. Some people would want to use
external hardware. Some people want to use programs to decode CW. Some
people want to use external audio programs on SSB for both the

This is a final
reminder that November 15th is the deadline for ordering enclosure or RFE
upgrades. A copy of the announcement posted on October 25th is provided

Can anyone help me with the configuration settings to allow me to:
Run the SDR via a Creative Labs MP3+
Run MixW viatwo VAC channels
Listen to processed audio from the SDR via the laptop's builtin soundsystem and speakers
I am only getting pulses of audio into MixW (using the demo version of
Hello everyone!
Having finally managed to get my SDR working on CW (well, operator error and a bad commercial stereo cable!!!) I am now ready to move on to purcahsing the VAC. I do haveone question however.
If my understanding is correct from what I have readon this list,by using the VAC
The digital mode button is on the list. That's all I can say for now.

Well, I have had a couple days to play with the SDR-1000. Made contacts

figuring out how to solve glitches in software, but even running 1.4.5

Lee,
Try using the following application to measure your performance counter:

3.5MHz is the slower value. Values equal to your CPU clock speed
indicates that you have ACPI 2.0, which should give you solid
performance on high speed CW when using

Cecil,
The majority of the developers working on the PowerSDR source use the
MSVC .NET compilers/IDE. The GUI is written in C# and the DSP is in C
with several supporting libraries written in C as well (Portaudio,
PortTalk, FFTW2, pthread).
Having said all of that, it seems that it is not too
Pardon, the basic newbie questions, but I just want to make sure what I
am experiencing is the norm.
I have noticed that if I engage the DSP, the audio volume decreases by
about 40% (subjectively). I would expect some decrease in AF intensity,
but is a 40% decrease the norm?

Dave,
I'm not real clear on what you are trying to do here, but it sounds like
you may want to check out CWtype and CWget. These are programs used to
send/decode CW.

Michael,
I believe that you need to use the Audio
Repeater that comes with the VAC to do what you are attempting. I am not familiar enough with the setup to
tell you much past that. Note that the
optimal buffer setting on the VAC settings seems to be 512. This seems to prevent glitching
Tim (really directed more generally),
The ANF/NR settings are highly subject to band conditions. What works
for us here in the lab doesn't always work for N4HY in NJ. We have
selected values that seem to work fairly well across the bands _for us_.
When the ANF is working properly, I have seen

Glad to see you are a SDR user. You are correct. The second sound card
can be used for other things. I have used VAC, PowerSDR, MixW and had
TeamSpeak on the second sound card or

Absolutely. I use my on-board soundcard
for Teamspeak and several others depending on what is
going on in the lab (Audigy 2 ZS, Delta 44, FireBox, etc). Just
make sure you set your soundcard settings inside of Teamspeak
and you should be all set.

Please try to set the VAC buffer size to 512 samples per buffer. That

Lee,
The high performance timer really seems to be more of a function of the ACPI
version, which is determined by the motherboard (though most desktop P4
machines have ACPI v2.0). I don't have access to a laptop with a Pentium M
in order to test, but I'm sure someone here on the reflector does.
To answer your question, I assume you are going to run some flavor of
Windows on your new laptop.
Laptop hard drives are slow compared to their desktop counterparts. In
order to reduce the possibility of extensively using the swap file, get
the extra RAM. It isn't that expensive in the grand
One of the first and only negative thing I noticed about my SDR1K on its
