Received a number of queries as to whether I'm going to bring any of the
high resolution color printed operating manuals for the Flex 5000 series
to sell at Dayton this year. Given the size and time required to print
these manuals, I will only bring manuals that have been ordered and
prepaid. The
I know what you mean Dale. I miss the Flex-Radio

have the features and performance. I guess that
I've been spoiled. And how many other manufacturers

Val,
I use N1MM with PowerSDR all of the time, even for non-contest operations.
Actually, N1MM grabs the focus whenever the frequency changes by a certain
amount. It is not time based. The issue lies with N1MM, not PowerSDR. Tom

Dave,
You may find a program called Portmon useful for monitoring com port
activity while your debugging your program.

Hi Jim,
While it is difficult to remotely diagnose problems that are
site/configuration specific, there are some likely causes given your
description of ...choppy, like an analog noise blanker. Here are some of
the possibilities:
1) Incorrect buffer settings causing stuttering in the audio. I
Decided to give my sdr-1000
to a club member..kid... so put in on the bench today ,mated it with?
power sd 1.16.2 and a fa-66 sound box. All seemed ok till I tried to do
the auto amplifer calibration. the rig goes into the test for about 30
seconds..starting with 160 meters.?? then I
I would first check that your power supply
can deliver the 25 amperes of current without
voltage sag at the terminals of the SDR-1000.
That one got me.
Check your sound card output level setting
and measure the output from the sound card.
It may also be an issue with the miniature
phone jacks
The new Ameritron ALS-600 now has the ability for remote control of the band
switch. By using this feature along with BCD-10 band decoder and DDUtil by
K5FR, my SDR now has more than 600 watts out on each band I select except 6
meters. Completely automatic band switching. Ameritron also makes a
If you're using an MFJ4125, that won't hack it. Drove me crazy until I found
it dropped over a volt under load. Got an Astron RS35M and don't even see a
drop of 0.1 vdc under load.

I was using an Astron VS50M, but I had the
current limiting set a little above 20 amps.
When I realized that the SDR-1000 wanted more,
I increased the allowable current and it
calibrated fine.
I use 12 gauge wires about 5 feet long.

I've had the same troubles with the last two releases, a few seconds
into the calibration and the panadapter blanks out with a red X.
I've been playing with linux the last couple of weeks so I have not had
time to really chase the problem down.

Users should be aware that Ameritron advises using an ALC connection
to protect the amplifier. The Flex-5000 and SDR-1000 currently have
no provision for ALC control.
Quoting the ALS-600 manual, ALC helps prevent damage to the
amplifier. and reduces the drive power if the SWR increases while
Thanks Brian for the info, I will add it to the list and get a URL
posted on the reflector tomorrow (with a form so others can submit
their experiences with configurations as they get new
radios/computers).

Hi all,
Looking for some advice here please as I'm looking to swap my ts850
out of the I.F. position in my eme set up and replace it with the sdr1000.
My current problem is interfacing sdr1000 with wsjt and audio pops and
crackles.
If I use the set up here
