[Flightgear-devel] Translation of FG manual.
Hi all, Congratulations to those who have been working on re-implementing the translation support for FG. I've been reviewing and implementing the French translation into Git, so it'll be avalaible for the next release. Looking forward to having the submenus translatable, as for the moment it's still a bit strange to have only the first/high level menus translated. While English is THE language for international aircraft/ATC communications, and so every simmer should master it (or at least the procedures), you may now that there is still a lot of people not fluent with English - even amongst youngsters - and reluctent to use an unlocalized software documentation (learning how to use SID/STAR, IFR is sometimes even difficult in your own language...). I know some countries have a different feeling about this, and are not subtitling or/nor dubbing TV series, movies, and so on, to make people master the English language. But that's not the discussion here. Moreover : - (don't know it it's the case elsewhere), but in some cases a software has to be localized to be used in some public companies (public contracts and others...). And most other sims are localized. - national web and paper medias are reluctent to publish articles on an unlocalized software. So the lack of translation is a drawback for FG. So I'm pretty sure a properly localized FG would ease its spreading across the countries evenmore than today. So as I'm willing to make FG more popular in France, the second step after the (huge - and still going!) wiki translation task (however, I'm pretty sure there is no real interest to translate all of it), I'd now like to focus (with the small FR translation team) on the translation of the user manual (gestart.pdf+html) you all know. I'm not forcing or encouraging people to translate it in their own language if they don't want to, but let's have the possibility to do so. While this manual is not perfect, having it translated would make FG a better renowned simulator. In return, having more people interested in it would help keeping it up to date and known by the community. Translating EN=FR is one thing, but I hope there would be return FR=EN updates. So, as what has been done with the menus, would it be possible to add language subdirectories in the manual, so we can start translating it? Moreover, using LaTeX makes the tagged-translation and HTML/PDF generation pretty easy afterwards. Looking forward to hearing from you on that one, Oliver -- Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond. [Flightgear-devel] Windows crash
With the latest git FG is crashing whilst the splash screen is shown. I have tried with several aircraft including C172p If I revert the following all runs normally. “commit 642735ab18421db87a07d6841dd720fd4615bfff Author: Erik Hofman Date: Wed May 30 08:39:04 2012 +0200 sync with JSB JSBSim CVS” My configuration is MSVC 2008, 32bit build, Windows 7. Unfortunately I have been unable to even start FG from a MSVC debug build, and the only clue I can give is that MSVC reports that the crash is in free.c (part of MSVC) Sorry for the report Alan -- Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond. [Flightgear-devel] Help with compilation of FlightGear
Hello Everyone, I am very new to FlightGear and have been using FlightGear for past few months on Windows. I wanted to develop a module which can use the AI module. I just compiled the whole thing on my Ubuntu machine and even after several tries of compilation, I get the same error - *execv :: No such file or directory*. I have no idea what to do. I can't make it run no matter what i do. Please help me with this issue. Thanks Ahmad -- Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
