Re: [Flightgear-devel] Uncompressing apt.dat et al

2010-06-06 Thread Michael Sgier
Maintaining an obsolete apt.dat is a waste of time. Better teaming up on
integrating the current 8.5 format.
It works perfectly on X-Plane so why shouldn't it do the same in FG.

However, I think it would be better to unzip nav.dat and apt.dat in our git so
that local changes can be made and tracked.  We are staying with an obsolete
version of apt.dat for the near future so Robin won't be maintaining it for
us.

Thanks,
Ron

As long as we're sticking to the v8.10 format, I'm accepting update
submissions which are being merged into this file:

  http://mapserver.flightgear.org/apt.dat.gz

The following airfields have already seen improvements - which are
included into the above file:

  http://mapserver.flightgear.org/Apt.Dat.txt

Cheers,
Martin.

You're invited to team up for the sake of saving us from wasting our
time

but this statement makes be feel that you don't have a clue
what you're talking about. As you could have read from _numerous_ forum
postings (apparently you didn't), incorporating v8.50 airfields into
FlightGear and its Scenery is a prettty complex task,

Martin.

Right, and my point was keeping this file uncompressed in a git repository
will make it easier for people, like me, who modify apt.dat locally to both
track current changes and keep my changes safe.

Thanks,
Ron
