Re: [Flightgear-devel] plib versions and FG 1.99.5
Hi, To solve this issue, you can download my package : http://www.progweb.com/plib/ Regards, Nicolas Le jeudi 18 décembre 2008 à 21:47 +0100, Sébastien MARQUE a écrit : Hi all, I can't currently be really aware about release candidates but I have a though about the version of plib needed for FG, which is now 1.8.5. But as far as I've checked (Debian sid/experimental and Ubuntu Intrepid) only plib1.8.4 is available in repos (except a doc package in experimental). I think that as many of you guys have compiled some time ago the correct plib version, and nobody checked this point, and just forgot :p Trying compiling SimGear-1.99.5-rc2 (from 12/10/08), and plib from my repos (version 1.8.4) I get the expected message: checking plib/ul.h usability... yes checking plib/ul.h presence... yes checking for plib/ul.h... yes checking for plib 1.8.5 or newer... wrong version configure: error: Install plib 1.8.5 or later first... Note that is not a real problem for those who want to compile FG, but could be one for distributions and packages managers... best regards seb -- SF.Net email is Sponsored by MIX09, March 18-20, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Re: [Flightgear-devel] plib versions and FG 1.99.5
I have no problem compiling and using FG/CVS for years now, but my real thought is that distributions could not spread the new release until they won't include plib1.8.5 in their packages bases. but if nobody thinks it could be a problem for FG, it will surely not be one. btw, if I remember correctly, it seems that FG needs also osg with a certain version number too. note: my compile script ./compile from the previous link was a bit outdated (and versionning control not working on this version), I've just pushed the actual version at the same place for the interested. regards seb Martin Spott a ecrit : Nicolas wrote: To solve this issue, you can download my package : http://www.progweb.com/plib/ BTW, there's also a package available for Debian Etch on Linux/AMD64: ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/FlightGear/PLIB/Debian/ Martin. -- ___ Flightgear-devel mailing list Flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-devel
Re: [Flightgear-devel] plib versions and FG 1.99.5
Hi, I understand your point of view. I think that instead of wait a new release of dependant package (plib, OSG...) we have to indicate the release version necessary for FG/SG building. And we can spread our own package (as plib 1.8.5). In fact, it's the issue of package maintener of FG and SG. Re: [Flightgear-devel] plib versions and FG 1.99.5
Oh for me it is not a problem as I compile SG-FG cvs, OSG-plib svn using the script ./compile which is one of my own and install them in my user space (http://seb.marque.free.fr/fichiers/flightgear/compile.tgz can do many other things but coffee :)). Indeed I was mainly thinking about distros that won't be able to package FG until they have plib 1.8.5 in their repos, and as this version is available for some months now, I wonder why it is not already the case (maybe FG 1.99.5 could be the coup de pouce for pushing 1.8.5 in repos) regards seb francesco a écrit : Sébastien MARQUE ha scritto: Hi all, ... best regards seb solution: http://brisa.homelinux.net/download_and_compile.sh use this script for debian / ubuntu or look at it. bye -- SF.Net email is Sponsored by MIX09, March 18-20, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
