2006-03-18 Thread Georg Birkner

dear fluxlisters

together with NY curator and artist lillian fellmann and israeli
artist efrat shalem we are in the planning of an art project that
would take place at the same time in our micro showcase gallery in
zurich, switzerland (www.mehrzweck-halle.ch) and a similar place in
San Francisco. sad enough, the SF window gallery got broken these
days. We now are looking for a new place to host the project.

any ideas?

thank you so much!

Re: FLUXLIST: FLUXUS PODCAST UPDATE

2006-03-18 Thread Björn Eriksson
Hello Mellisa and others who might have some problems with receiving the
Fluxus Podcast. I'll try to explains one or two things... these are same
things I have asked myself earlier...

First a Podcast is nothing more of a way of distributing files, preferable
sound and video files. To receive these files you need a Podcast Catcher...
like Juice, Doppler and also a lot more applications like iTunes. iTunes is
also a very faceted media player with lot's of more functions built in. In
iTunes there is also this built in Podcast receiving function (only the
latest versions though, I think you must have 6... if you have an old iTunes
the Podcast function might not be there)

Now I drop three url:s to differend Podcast Catchers... or as they often
call them Aggregators or Podcast Receivers.

http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/
(multiplatform windows - mac - linux)
http://www.dopplerradio.net/?page_id=64
(for windows)
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(for mac - pc)

and here is one about Podcasting in general:
http://www.podcastalley.com/what_is_a_podcast.php

Podcast Alley is also a great place for searching for different podcasts:
http://www.podcastalley.com/index.php
(Walter, maybe you should add address for the Fluxus Podcast here?)

Well and finally... the url:adress ending with xml is not a web-page... this
is the feed for the podcast. This info is to be put into the podcast catcher
to start receive from that special podcaster. In iTunes I think you add it
at podcaster page with advanced - subscribe to podcast - add then add url -
ok

For Fluxus Podcast the feed is (=the url to add in podcast catcher):
http://homepage.mac.com/cianciusi/podcast.xml

Sometimes the feeds ends with rss and other things aswell instead of xml but
that I won't get into cause that I can't explain why...

Hope you get some more clues by this above! And yes, there is a bit of hard
work before the podcasting thing fit's in. Some people tend to want to visit
different webpages and there download the mp3's... and that's fine. I do it
too, but that is not what the Podcasting concept is about. It is about to
not need to visit different pages to get the content you want. Huh..?

Anyway, now stop!

:)
/Björn Eriksson

Roger Stevens - Bottom Of The Stairs (2:52) added to Fluxus Podcast.

To listen you just need to:
1. download iTunes 6 (free) for Mac or PC:
www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ;
2. search for Fluxus in the Music Store page (podcast directory);
3. sign in Fluxus podcast.

The xml address for the Fluxus Podcast to feed in any podcast receiver
(like Juice, Doppler, iTunes or whatever)
is http://homepage.mac.com/cianciusi/podcast.xml

If you want to contribute to future episodes of Fluxus podcast
send a .m4a, .mp3, .mov, .mp4, .m4v, or .pdf file to my email address.

I simply love this Normal poem.

I also have a sonnet (and I heard

I am no thief, no whore, no wench,
  no slob;

I earn my sleep and live and play
  and pray.

It suits me well to pay on all my
  bills,

  provide good food, protection for
  my child,

  shelter from the storm, and
  outrageous ills--

  with luck a junket to

But now! I've quit my job and I am
  lost!

  My reason dashed by unabashed

Normal Where and
Tear

This is not about the way that
anybody goes
It is about the news on the
radio as seen on TV
When the talking head says
nothing about me
When the spinning tops plunder
what no one knows

It could be said that the world
is an oyster shell
Lifting itself above the turtle
back frames on spectacles
Like that time the pope wore
Chinese food manacles
Or that event when nobody who
knew could tell

Some people went out to fight a
war for peace
While other people stayed behind
to fight the battle
When governments fell among the
popular prattle
And soulless priests give
sermons on lease

Anything goes because nobody
knows
Everyone knows what the scrap
heap grows

okay this has nothing to do with lunch but I was
reading Suse's uplifting LA stories and had to add
this: Today Madawg Jr and I were in our local petstore
to get a cat for his birthday. It's a very cool store
in that they don't sell cats they work with a rescue
agency and can only be adopted. A customer in the
store heard it was Madawg Jr.'s birthday and was
touched that he wanted to adopt a cat and gave him
twenty dollars to buy some toys for him.The cat's name
is Elwood.
