Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] FOP 0.20.4 Release Candidate available
Hi all, I was just wondering why the distributions are so large and also larger than the previous release. The src release contains the generated html and javadocs which is about an extra 2.5Mb compressed (18Mb uncompressed). The bin release contains the xml-docs and the html-docs, ant.jar and the hyphenation xml files. This adds about 1.25Mb to the compressed size. I know there are reasons for this but is it that useful. The ant jar is only to convert some fo files. The hyph and xml-docs are there for reference I suppose. It would seem to me we could make the dists a bit smaller so it is easier to download and use. Re: Design Documentation Question
Hi Dave, On Sun, 2002-06-23 at 15:02, David Penton wrote: I'm just trying to get familiar with fop design, with the ultimate intention of participating. I have two questions. I got the source from cvs. I am looking in xml-fop/docs/design and also xml-fop/docs/design/alt.design but it is not clear to me how I am meant to view the various documentation files (xml, png, svg and whatnot) in those directories. Are they meant to be examined separately, or are they used to create some html or pdf that I should look at? The htmldoc build target converts these into the html documentation that you can see on the website. It is easier to view the html documentation. Also, I cannot get at the faq servlet listed on the website. I think I saw mention somewhere in the archives to this list that there may be a known problem with, but I cannot for the life of me re-locate that in the archive. How does one get at the latest faq for development? The faq is really for user issues. Yes, The file is so large and takes hours to download. It can be distributed by dicritizing the elements of FOP package. So that it can downloaded when required. durai --- Keiron Liddle [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi all, I was just wondering why the distributions are so large and also larger than the previous release. Loading FOP userconfig file from EAR
I am using fop 0.20.3 as part of a web server application, distributed as an EAR file, running under weblogic 6.1. Unfortunately we are not able to distribute the application to our production servers in any other form. We have our own userconfig.xml file which specifies the fonts used by Fop. Unfortunately the loading of this file always fails. The userconfig.xml file is passed to the Options.loadUserconfiguration() static method as a string. Having a quick look at the Fop source code, a File object is created, which I think results in weblogic being unable to load the file. Are there any plans to overload the Options.loadUserconfiguration() method to pass in an InputStream, or any other alternatives that would allow the userconfig.xml file to be loaded from an EAR file ? regards, Simon -- Simon Toulson CREDIT | FIRST SUISSE | BOSTON Equity Capital Markets IT, London Direct: +44-207-888-5268 This message is for the named person's use only. I tried the latest releases of the xalan (and ant, xerces, xml-apis) and the same problem occurs. This is the statment in ant that is causing the problem: style basedir=src/codegen includes=*.xml style=${fontfile.xsl} destdir=${build.src}/${replacestring}/render/pdf/fonts/ extension=.java/ The first transform is working correctly (so if I keep running it it will eventually transform all of the files) but the second transform gets the exception. So it would appear to be a problem with some value not being reset. Do you need any more info? Keiron. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Aw: PDF JavaScript and Form Fields: FOP prototype version is available
I found FOP when searching a possibility for setting up a pdf-servlet-server. Like almost all of us, i also want to use form fields in my pdf's. Unfortunately i was not able to integrate your changes in the 0.20.3 or 0.20.4rc version of FOP, obviously there's missing the 'addField'-method of PDFAnnotList and iwouldn't know how to handle a FieldList, if i inserted one. Have you (or anyone) yet used the above mentioned versions? Maybe i made another mistake when adapting the code into 0.20.4, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Holger
