Re: [VOTE] Release FOP Trunk as FOP 0.90alpha1
+1 Congratulations! Jeremias Maerki [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote on 11/15/2005 03:14:12 PM: This is it. Just to make it clear again: This is a a release vote and therefore a PMC vote, but every FOP committer is invited to place his vote or raise any objections. Noone gets ignored. Although fop-dev is in the CC, please place your votes on [EMAIL PROTECTED] Even though I haven't fully finished all of the documentation, yet, I'd like to start the vote. I'll have everthing finished by tomorrow evening (CET). I don't intend to do any more code changes, only the last documentation updates. http://wiki.apache.org/xmlgraphics-fop/ReleasePlanFirstPR shows the release plan and the status of the proceedings. I know of no legal problems needing attention. The external dependencies are well documented and every JAR in the lib directory is accompanied by its license. Hyphenation files have been removed. The unknown origin of some long-existing example FO files is not a problem IMO. 0.90alpha1 will carry a big warning sign in the README file that the software is a preview release and should not be used in production unless thoroughly tested for the target environment. It is intended to let everybody know that FOP is back in business and to produce feedback on our new piece of software from users that don't (or can't) download the code from SVN. I'd like to propose to release FOP SVN Trunk as version 0.90alpha1. +1 from me, obviously. A clear error-message would prevent others from searching the error on their side and finding after all (after looking to the source) that it is an unimplementet feature. May be additionally a comment on the table-cell entry of the compliance-page would be helpfull. -- Configure bugmail: http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

Re: svn commit: r345335 - /xmlgraphics/fop/trunk/src/documentation/content/xdocs/compliance.ihtml
A matter of definition, I guess. :-) Maybe we should really write [0.90alpha1] instead of [Latest] then. Care to do that? Or what do you prefer? Neither the disabled testcase file nor any of the style sheets are found. This can be quite annoying with some IDEs. Indeed, it annoyed me yesterday evening. It would be good if we would reestablish independence of the current working directory by passing the base directory to the code. BTW. Ant 1.6.1 complains: build.xml:808: The fail type doesn't support the nested condition element. Do we really need a bleeding edge ant? (although the Ant people could be a bit less aggressive with adding features in minor releases too). The else attribute of the condition element (line 1046) requires Ant 1.6.3. Well, I upgraded. Re: Completeness of fop-0.90alpha1-src
Ok, fixed, along with a few other things. Interesting how many little things you can find that delay a release. :-) With the current build in the branch we are able to create the 3 distributions that I see are necessary: - Source distribution - Binary distribution for JDK 1.3 - Binary distribution for JDK 1.4 and later (containing support for ImageIO) To make a JDK 1.3 distribution build from scratch possible, add: javahome.jdk14 = your jdk 1.4 home path here to your build-local.properties. This enables build the docs while Ant runs under JDK 1.3 because Forrest needs JDK 1.4. On 18.11.2005 21:49:17 Jeremias Maerki wrote: Thanks, Simon. Good catch! I got that covered.
