I I don't think it is related to the forrest stuff at all. I recommend getting a clean sandbox see if the problem is still there -- I have had trouble with my sandboxes from time to time. Or, at least go to the repository see if the files still exist there. want to make changes to the documentation anyway, so if you let me know what the requirements are for getting the forrest site build to work, I can fix the alt.design files. If you would rather get the basics sorted out yourself, let me know. I just committed some additional information to the README that should help a bit.
