Maximum pages output by PNG renderer

Does anyone know what the maximum pages output by the PNG renderer is? For example, if I give it the argument of "jill.png" and there are two pages, it will create files "jill.png" and "jill2.png". What is the maximum number of pages/files it will create? Thanks, Jill DeLong
