Embed symbols to RTF to emulate field like

Hello All I am using FOP, JAXP in a serlvet to transform xml using xslt to rtf successfully I need to find ways to embed symbols to the rtf using xslt so as to emulate fields in a form like Word... Or is there better ways to do this? Thank you
