out of memory error
Hello team, Im facing similar issue. Im getting out of memory error, when trying to generate a report. I have checked FAQ and tried all the options provided there I tried increasing Java virtual memory to 1024M and also removed page citation in the report generated. I also tried with new beta version of fop.jar. It didnt help. Report which is to be generated will generate approximately 70 pages for 40 records in database. It works fine for 40 records. We have to generate a similar report for 700 records. Report doesnt contain any images. It has table for every 2 pages. Please help me resolve the issue. Thanks for your time Thanks Regards, Leena Madala

RE: latest build
Yes Jeremias, I did get the FOP extension for Barcode4j working in my test environment. I hope to deploy it next week, but so far it is much easier to use when embedded into the XSLT. I'd be happy to send the extension to anyone who needs it (assuming it is the only change they need to embed the bar codes). That will be much more efficient. On 27.07.2006 15:59:06 Rick Roen wrote: I downloaded and built FOP from the SVN yesterday (26-07-2006). The build appeared successful and I copied all the files into my working folder. Now when I do a PDF that contains png graphics (barcodes generated from BarCode4j) they turn out as fuzzy unreadable images. I have attached a pdf and a png to demonstrate. Did something break with rendering png images in this build, I was using a build from 02-06-2006 before this. I am viewing with Adobe Reader 7.0 on an XP pro SP2 box. Re: Allow commenting in Adobe reader
[Revisiting a thread from April, quoting everything because of gmane expiration of this list, new stuff at the end] Steinar Bang [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Jeremias Maerki [EMAIL PROTECTED]: As far as I know Acrobat Reader does not allow highlighting and adding notes. You need at least Acrobat Standard for that: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.html See the second FAQ here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/acrrfaq.html Also the online help of Adobe Reader 7 indicates that it has a comment toolbar that will be visible if the PDF allows it. It looks like Adobe Acrobat is the only piece of software that is able to make a PDF file allow it (see below). By default, FOP does not prohibit annotation for the PDF it creates. Only if you encrypt the PDF and set the right switches will this functionality be disabled. Yes, that's what I figured out during last night's googling. See http://www.renderx.net/lists/xep-support/4108.html It looks like Adobe disabled the annotation/commenting feature of Adobe Reader when going from version 5 to version 6. And the only thing that can make Adobe Reader 6 and 7 show this feature, is someone applying a digital signature on the PDF file. Now I've installed Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.08. When I open a PDF file created by FOP in Acrobat Professional, and enable commenting, and then save it back, and then try opening it in Adobe Reader 7, I get a dialog with the following warning: This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document. And except that Adobe Reader says that You can attach files to this documents, I haven't been able to find any commenting facilities. I have tried saving back to the original file, and I have tried saving to a new file. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is there a workaround? Re: out of memory error
Leena, you don't say what FOP version you're using, but would you please get the latest code (FOP Trunk) from SVN and recheck if you get any improvements? I've just committed a fix for a memory-leak which might improve your situation. Please report back on the results. Re: Commercial Documents
Yessir. I help my clients create systems that use FOP for commercial output. We've been hugely successful, producing books as large as 2,000 pages. My clients and their customers are very satisfied with FOP (though many of them don't even know FOP exists, since it works behind the scenes from their point of view). The cost of any software package is trivial next to the cost of development time (both writing and programming), so I can't say that using an open-source processor like FOP saves a lot of money. However, I can't sufficiently emphasize the value of the FOP community. I've never yet had an issue for which I didn't get help in a hurry. Generally, if I have a question, I post and get more than one helpful message within 24 hours (often much less). I never get that kind of support from any company, even though I paid for their product. RE: Commercial Documents
Yes, I am using it in a product for occasional reports, but mostly for sales documents. I used to do them in HTML, but the inconsistencies between one browser and another drove me nuts! PDF may not be exactly the same everywhere, but it is a huge improvement. I like the pdf format because I can email, fax or print from within the program and all customers can read it. So far, creating the documents is rather slow (up to 10 seconds/doc), but I am doing this on a Windows network using a batch file. As I get a bit deeper into Java I can probably speed things up, but I'm a complete novice now. The support on this NG is VERY good. The advantage for my client is to be able to email invoices rather than send by mail. In the US, and probably everywhere, postage is becoming a major expense. Re: line breaks in TOC in latest FOP 0.92
Daniel Naber wrote: Or is it actually the same problem as the page-number-citation bug that makes the numbers not aligne nicely? Chances are it is the same problem. Check with a document which generates three digit page numbers (perhaps more digits), for example. by adding another page sequence with a high initial page number. The fix in 0.20.5 involves a calling layout routines from the renderer, which is difficult to implement the same way in the 0.9x architecture. Perhaps someone will come up with a clever solution to the problem. Meanwhile, all you can do is implementing a two stage process: render to the XML area format, grab somehow the resolved page numbers, then render again to the intended target format using the resolved page numbers instead of the page number citations. Font Metrics for Adobe Acrobat Asian Font Pack
Title: Font Metrics for Adobe Acrobat Asian Font Pack Does anyone know how to create FOP font metrics for the Adobe Acrobat Asian font pack? I would like to support Japanese documents without having to embed the Microsoft TrueType fonts in the PDF file. Alternatively, does anyone have a font metrics file they can send to me? Thanks in advance. Regards, Dave
