Regarding the use of ftp as a model for URLs - seems like a poor choice to me but whatever works is fine. I didn't find the /// in any of the rfc's for ftp - maybe it is a windowsism? Anyhow, passwordless ssh works fine for me but I've tried every combination I can think of and I always get this:
