That's by design - fossil has a dependency on zlib.

 - it can't find openssl, even though it's installed, and even if I use
 --with-openssl=/usr or
 --with-openssl=/usr/bin/**openssl

 Any suggesitons?

Can't help with that one but as a workaround you can try
--with-openssl=none.

Hey Miles -- long time, no see/hear. Hope you are well. Welcome to the

[fossil-users] how does one submit a bug report?

2012-04-18 Thread Miles Fidelman

Hi Folks,

After going through some hair with the ./configure script, I thought I'd
open a ticket listing some things that seem broken. Unfortunately,
there doesn't seem to be a open ticket selection under tickets on
http://www.fossil-scm.org/. One doesn't seem to become available when
one logs in anonymously, and there doesn't seem to be a register link.

So... how does one report a bug report?

Specifically, on Debian Squeeze, building from source
(fossil-src-20120317175325 from
http://www.fossil-scm.org/download.html), ./configure seems to require
that the following be installed:

zlib1g-dev
libssl-dev

These are not referenced in the BUILD.txt file, and ./configure simply
complains about not finding zlib and openssl, even though they are both
installed. make -f Makefile.classic similarly runs into problems (at
least with openssl, I'd already installed zlib1g-dev at the point I
tried it - at least its error messages are a bit more detailed - can't
find openssl/.h for several files - which is how I tracked down that
they're in libssl-dev).

Post to this mailing list.

We disabled anonymous bug reporting for Fossil (and for SQLite) because the
vast majority of bugs reported there were really support requests.

I need to enhance the bug reporting mechanism in Fossil so that new bug
reports are ephemeral until verified by a registered user. Then we can
reenable anonymous bug reporting, and simply delete all of the noise and
spam as it arrives. That's on the to-do list.
