I am (slowly) adapting the online help, trying to clarify the concepts
that fossil uses and to accommodate the online help for both novice
intermediate users.
I came across a few things that are not quite clear to me in the

Yes, it does a comparison of some sort

the repos which were darcs -- fossil converted via git and/or with FF

Perhaps it is an obscure race condition between fossil initialising the
server socket and FF4 opening a client socket to that
