Ellen,
It sounds like your 'IT' department are being fussy with licensing.
FrameMaker 7.1 was one of the last versions of FrameMaker that didn't
dial Adobe for license activation, and if your company has a
multi-user [bulk] license, you may be able to convince your IT
department to install FM
Hi all,

I have a document with 3 conditions in: call them A, B and C for ease. I
add text with the Track Changes facility on, so that reviewers can see
what's new. I then apply the relevant conditions to relevant
words/numbers/sentences.
Then I set just condition A text to

Alison's. In my case, it seemed to be a low memory problem, and it has
not recurred. FWIW, YMMV

Hi Jack
Nice to know I'm not the only one. I agree with you in suspecting it may be
related to memory, though little do I know about such things.
I've been watching FM memory use in the Task Manager.
Beginning of day, one doc open: FrameMaker.exe is using 14K.
End of day, same doc open

Hi Roger,
If you decide to investigate, you might consider taking a look at any
plugins you have installed. A single line of missing code from a
third-party developer can cause memory to hemorrhage. Lord knows I've
been guilty and still am occasionally.

Hi Ellen,
In my opinion, it's going to be very inconvenient to have one writer on FM9 and
the others on FM7. Right now, I am working on a project in FM7.1, another in
FM8 and a third in FM9. It's been a real split-brain experience, for sure!
Based on the issues I have had, I would really
If you want to buy me a copy of 9.0, I'll send your new writer my copy of 7.1.

Hi Russ
Thanks for the tip. I don't have any plugins installed. I have TCS2, with FM
9.0 p250, but nothing else added. The measurements I mentioned were with no
other TCS component running.

Disregarding a leak, since there isn't a lot you can do about it but note
that one exists, I'd look at getting more RAM.
If you only have 1 G on board, you should have several open slots, and RAM
is cheap right now. Easiest way to boost performance would be to go to at
least 2, and probably 4G.
I thought that I had fixed this issue. But, I ran into @ a

problem is that when you integrate projects from FM to RH on the same
computer they retain that path. If you change the directory of one, you must
