Do you use Skype? Bizarre as this sounds, it's caused by various Skype add-ons and plug-ins! I removed the Skype Toolbar from I.E. (what moment of weakness led to my installing it, I can't imagine) and used Uninstall Programs to get rid of Skype Click to Call. So far, so good - paste and paste
