Richard and Roger, Thank you both for replying. It got me looking in the right places. It transpires my page set up was set to double-sided printing, but with ignore blank pages selected. Changing this to force the document to have an even number of pages (which I thought I had already done)

Format List from squidds.de ($49) will do a very nice job of that. It creates a table with a row for each of the formats. It makes it very easy to scroll down a column and see, for example, which paragraph formats use a certain font. (It doesn't show every single format, though-- but does

I was lazy and didn't want to reinvent the wheel, so I took DOCBOOK and modified the EDD to make it format the way we wanted. Of course with heading resetting the numbering system I wanted an automatic way to apply the heading formats without reverting to manually setting attributes. I
