Hi Shmuel,
Here are the answers to your questions regarding Responsive HTML5 output in
FrameMaker:
Q: Does anyone know if it is compiled into a single file like HTML help
(CHM)?
A: No. Responsive HTML5 output generates a bunch of other files. These
include the HTML, JavaScripts, and CSS files.
Hi All
FrameMaker 2015 has one of the output is "Microsoft HTML help" which is CHM.

Lots of people are running FM 7.2 on 64-bit Windows 7 without problems.
The switch to Unicode in FrameMaker 8 broke a lot of things. It's not
cost-effective to respond to a compatibility problem you can easily
fix for free by spending $1000 (per seat) on a new release that will

Kevin,
Just tell your company to upgrade you to the latest version. There is no
benefit to you, or the company, trying to get ancient software to work on a
modern PC. And yes, Frame 7.2 is ancient.

Thanks, Robert. More pieces of the puzzle. I do remember turning off Aero for
my "old/good" computer's FrameMaker a few years ago (though I can't remember
why), but have not done so on my "new/bad" computer. I will now.

Desktop Window Manager handles Windows' visual effects. If you're
having problems with it, you might want to turn off all the Aero
stuff. It may be conflicting with that weird UI layer in FrameMaker.

Hi.
In the hope that someone on this international list has experience of
working with Swedish texts (or languages with similar peculiarities) I would
like to ask if there is any way to influence the way certain words are
hyphenated.
In Swedish some compound words, for example dammoln (dust
Some clarification, since David Millis's bingo suggestion came to me off-list:
Ending the DWM.exe process in Task Manager allowed me to recover from my

Oh, I think you're right.
The usual way to send web help and other multi-file help formats is as
a .zip file.

Interesting interpretation - I didn't think the OP wanted the FM2015 Help file,
but maybe I'm wrong.

To: Shmuel Wolfson;
If you want a single file, use the PDF.

Bingo. I had a freeze-up and David's "end DWM.exe process" method worked like a
charm to save my files. Mega-thanks!

Thank you again for everyone's advice about preventing freeze-ups on my
FrameMaker 7.2 / Windows 7 system. I feel well equipped to deal with this
problem now. Gosh, who were those masked people?

HTML5 help is just a jazzier version of WebHelp, so the same delivery methods
you would use for WebHelp apply. Our company creates 2 flavours of WebHelp for
one of our products & it gets included in the build for one flavour and is a
separate self-extracting executable for the other.
Hi,
I send the files as a Compressed/zipped folder to the programmers.
So they do have a lot of small files
