I think the memory issue is indeed the cause for this. I did my process
again and saved after each insertion. No problems occurred. But I think
software should handle a memory issue much more gracefully than simply
closing without saving
I know that Adobe people do monitor this list (and have for many years) so
I
need to ask - what is the best way to report this? I have a couple of
dumps
I can send.
Adobe has a bug report form at this address:

I've had them ask for sample files

Indeed Diane,
I have also experienced some crashes with Frame 8 (and I'm also running
XPSP2 with 2 GB of RAM). When I did the same actions in Frame 7.2, everything
was fine.
I do hope the Adobe
FM 7.2 XP. When looking for a way to remove a ghost revision bar at
the end of a paragraph last in a section in Structured FM (5 or 6
levels closing), I went to Format Document Change Bars. When
clicking on that (with the elements highlighted), FM crashed without
saving of any sort, only showing
In the MIFfed file I found the offending rascal. Between the closing
of the second last and the last Section level elements, where there
should have been nothing, I found:

FTag `'
FChangeBar Yes
FLocked No
# end of Font
It seemed impossible to get to it in FM itself.

I have been experiencing the same
that would make it close. (Do Adobe people monitor this list?)

I have been experiencing the same problem as Christopher. I am running
FrameMaker 7.1 on Windows XP
When you paste a slide from PowerPoint into FrameMaker, it will be
inserted as an OLE object (Object Linking and Embedding). And sometimes,
OLE objects don't behave well.
As Pete said, you may want to export your slides as png files and import
those by reference into FrameMaker. Or you can
frame that it happened. Anyway, Save will now be part
of my iterative process.

You might try saving the powerpoint image as a png
the program close, but I think it was when I
inserted the new frame that it happened. Anyway, Save will now be part
of my iterative process.

You might try saving the powerpoint image as a png / bmp / gif, and then do
a import file.
What version of FM, what platform?
