AW: deleting a variable across an entire book

2011-09-08 Thread Maike Roeder
Hi John,

You can also take TOOLBOX (for FrameMaker 5- 9) or FINALYSER (since
FrameMaker 10) with the function
FORMATS Delete all | Add | Delete unused Paragraph, Character,
Colors, Table, Variable, Xrefs

This feature is free. Download TOOLBOX (www.toolboxforme.com) or
FINALYSER (www.finalyser.com) and enjoy it.

Betreff: deleting a variable across an entire book

I have an 86-chapter book with the same variables in every chapter.

I want to convert all instances of all user variables to text.

I can delete the variable in one chapter and thus convert all instances
in that chapter, but importing variable definitions across the whole
book doesn't delete any variables from the other chapters.

Can anyone recommend a way to do this? (I'd rather not learn FrameScript
this afternoon!)

Thanks!

john

Index displays in two formats

2011-09-08 Thread Smith, Andy
I'm having some trouble with my formatting for my index. (FM9, Win XP
pro.)

I'm generating the index in the standard way and the format seems to be
the default, or at least I don't remember editing the paragraph format
for the index. (I'm pretty much self taught in FM so there may be some
errors in my methodology.) The paragraph tag is 'Level1SIX' which I know
is automatically generated as I didn't give it that name. It also seems
to match my body text format but I don't know if I modified it when I
ran the first index months ago.

So here's the thing:

The text of the entry is Arial 10pt as is my body text, but the numbers
generated against them are in some other font, probably Times. Clicking
anywhere in the entry, either in the text or the page number, shows the
format as Level1SIX which is Arial 10pt.

I've tried clicking in the line and applying the format but nothing
happens.

Does anybody know what's going on here and how I make the numbers match
the text?

Framemaker 10 page down bug

2011-09-08 Thread Keith . Soltys
The behaviour of FrameMaker 10 when I page or scroll down is driving me
crazy. I open a file, start to page down, get two or three pages into the
file, and I'm back where I started. The only way I can keep this from
happening is to click in the file each time I page down.
The same thing happens when I try to scroll down.
I know this was a bug in earlier versions of Frame but I thought it had
been fixed. What the heck is going on? This is getting really annoying.
