Keyboard shortcut for closing pods

2014-05-07 Thread Shmuel Wolfson

I just submitted the feature request below to Adobe. I'm posting
this to the Framers list to get some feedback from others in hopes
that Adobe will actually do something about it.
If you agree with my, please post a comment on the list or on
Adobe's feedback for here:
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

**BUG**
Concise problem statement: No easy keyboard shortcut to
  minimize or close pods.
...
Expected results: It would be a great time saver if pressing the
Escape key twice without pause would minimize the last used pod,
and pressing the Escape key three times without pause would close
the pod. This is for all the pods, Cross-Reference, Find/Change,
etc. The other option would be just to make pressing the Escape
key twice close the pod, which to me would be second best, but far
better than the current situation which requires clicking on a
small icon to minimize or close a pod.

Re: Keyboard shortcut for closing pods

2014-05-07 Thread Lin Sims
The problem with the suggestion of using two or three Escapes in a row is
that it could well break all the OTHER keyboard shortcuts that use the Esc
key. Also, if you are mis-entering a keyboard shortcut, pressing Esc a
couple of times resets the sequence so you can start over again. I think
Esc Pc is unused, though, at least as of FM 11.

Anything I should know before upgrading to TCS5?

2014-05-07 Thread Carol J. Elkins
I've attended most of the Adobe Webinars about TCS5 and FM12 and am
getting close to being ready to upgrade from TCS 4 using FM11 and
RH10 to TCS5 using FM12 and RH11. I'm running Windows 7. To the best
of this group's collective knowledge, are there any gotchas that I
need to be aware of? Can I copy the .ini file over to the new FM12
as I have done for the past umpteen upgrades?

When I install, is it possible to keep FM 11 on the same drive and
install a new FM 12? If so, is there anything I should do to keep
Acrobat happy? Can FM11 open files created in FM12?

If there are any secrets you could pass along that might reduce
headaches and heartburn during the upgrade, I'd really appreciate it.

Carol

Re: Keyboard shortcut for closing pods

2014-05-07 Thread Shmuel Wolfson

Another option would be to have one
Escape key combination to minimize all pods, and maybe another to
close all pods, or a shortcut key minimize the most recently used
  pod.

But in the current situation, where there is a different shortcut
key to close each pod, they are not very useful.

Anything I should know before upgrading to TCS5?

2014-05-07 Thread Robert CH Shell
Dear Carol:
I am in the same boat, considering TCS5:
I do notice that neither Photoshop nor Illustrator are included. Presenter
is a bit clunky and nowhere close to illustrator.
I am trying to find an educational discount price with no effect.
I was very impressed with the stability of FM 11, but disappointed in its
advertised out of the box printing to e-books (apart from .pdf).
This would be my ONLY reason for the upgrade, so I would like to learn what
the Obie ones have to say, since I say they are chatting happily about Adobe
FM12.
