Re: Pop-ups in Generated PDF
Lin, What about creating a pseudo popup by jumping to a new window that has a Back button on the master page? This was the workaround we devised for tutorial answer pages. Ben I have to publish a HUGE flowchart for a customer that has several levels of data within each square. In order to fit the entire chart on one page (and have the text larger than 6 pt), I want to only display one or two levels of data and then use hypertext commands (probably popup menus, even though the menu options won't lead the user anywhere; they'll just display the next level of data) to allow the user to click an item and show the rest of the data that falls below that item. I have the hypertext command working in FrameMaker (I can Ctrl-Alt-right-click the text flow and see the next level of data in a popup menu), but nothing's happening in the PDF. (Yes, I'm generating Acrobat data when I create the PS file.) So, what am I missing? And why do I have to right-click instead of left-click like usual to test the hyperlink? AND does anyone have a better way to go about this than hypertext commands? I'm all ears. I'm using FrameMaker 7.2 on Windows, unstructured for now but can go structured if necessary. -- Ben Hechter objectives.ca Technical Performance Support Solutions Vancouver BC e: [EMAIL PROTECTED] w: www.semitake.com ___ You are currently subscribed to Framers as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send list messages to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or visit http://lists.frameusers.com/mailman/options/framers/archive%40mail-archive.com Send administrative questions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Visit http://www.frameusers.com/ for more resources and info.
Frame to PDF: display Document Title in title bar?
In Acrobat, under: Document Properties Initial View Show: there is a setting that toggles the document view between Document Title and File Name. This controls the caption that appears in the top (usually blue) bar of the window. Thus, I can choose to display foobar.pdf in the top bar of the window, or Foo, a Learned Disquisition on Bar (the full document title) in the same location. The default setting is to display the file name. I would like to change the default setting to display the document title and force this on subsequent readers. I can't locate a PDFMark command to force this, nor can I parse anything like this by hunting for an obvious line in the various *.ini files in the c:/Program Files/Adobe tree. I am using Frame 7.2, Distiller 7.0, and Acrobat 7.0 on a Windows XP system. Is anyone aware of, an Acrobat registry setting, a line in a *.ini file, a PDFMark argument, or some other setting that will result in my writers being able to Distill from FrameMaker into PDF, forcing documents to default display the title, without their having to toggle the Initial View setting manually to Document Title? generated list headings in ToC/PDF
Hullo All, I've recently joined the list, been lurking a couple of days and checking the archives, but my question, as far as I can tell, hasn't come up. It's probably too simple a procedure! Been working with Frame for donkey's, but am working for the first time with the structured version. A few days ago I launched into redoing the company's EDD, to make the documents more user-friendly and to create US/RestOfTheWorld-printable pages. In that vein I've added the heading Contents to the ToC, and created a list of figures and a list of tables. I want first-level Figures and Tables headings to show up at the top of the Contents page when I update the Frame book, and I want all three generated files to show up as first-level entries in the bookmarks column of the PDF book file I intend to create. So far none of that's happening. I'm beginning to realise that a lot depends on the EDD I inherited, but any help would be much appreciated. update imported graphics - scripting/addon solution ?
I need to check some thousand framemaker files for newer versions of imported graphics. Each framemaker file has one imported graphic and each framemaker file bears the name of that imported graphic. The graphics are named consecutively, so that if a newer version exists it is named with a higher number. I would like to be able to find some elegant way of checking these files for newer graphics. Is there a plugin that would facilitate this work or might it be done using scripting ? Frame to PDF: display Document Title in title bar?
Thank you, Rick and Klaus! Since the current template already makes extensive use of PDFMark code, and I'm not shy around it, I just plugged Klaus's code into the existing PostScript box, and it worked perfectly! No tinkering required. I'm glad to know, though, that there's more than one way to skin this cat. Neato! Thanks again! update imported graphics - scripting/addon solution ?
Hi Bj?rn... I'm pretty sure that such a plugin does not exist. I'd be glad to make one for you that does, or you could certainly create a script to do this with FrameScript (http://www.framescript.com/). Feel free to contact me off-list if you need more information.
