Doh, why didn't I think of Mif2Go! Thanks David.
Yes, any xml that translates into XMetal "should" do the same for
Arbortext. Is there anyone with experience bringing a M2G xml file into
Arbortext?

Hello FrameManiacs,
We use Arbortext for sgml authoring. Due to differences in DTDs, using
structured FM for this is not an option for us. We have a need to
convert unstructured FM into XML that can be morphed-up to sgml either
by technique or application(s).
I'm curious to know what tools and/or
Art has a good suggestion. Download the Trial version of RH8. It's fully
functional. I played with it last month when I was evaluating RH8 vs MadCap

Finding a contractor or a service bureau that has a version of RoboHelp that
can open and update your existing project should not be very difficult. And if
the required updates are well defined, the cost of hiring out the job should

Darren,
You might take a look at Mif2Go for the FM -> XML conversion step. It has
built-in support for DocBook and DITA. I have used it for DITA conversion.
The XML imported fine into XMetal. I would expect the same with an import
into Arbortext.

So why not do the free 30-day eval of RH8 or TCS2 and be done with it?
Or MIF2Go?

Hello,
The DTD is an arbitrary document. There should be no limit within
FrameMaker. You may need to create a custom structured application,
but that can mean as little as an hour's work, depending on the
target DTD. Granted, it can also mean a week's work, depending on the
target DTD.

Hi Wim...
I can't say for sure .. but from what I've seen I think that FM9's
attempt to enable the ability to work with http-based files has gone a
bit overboard. As far as I can tell, if the DTD is specified with an
http reference, FM9 ignores the public ID and its association to a

Hi Susan,
Judging by the tone of your message, I can only assume that you do not have
RoboHelp 7 or RoboHelp 8 in your tool kit. If you had RH7 or RH8, you could
just import the RH6 project file.
Hope this helps,

You're right. We don't have RH 7 or 8. We're not a RH shop and don't

The frustrating part is Adobe surely still has the software and they
