Distill multipage embedded PDFs when you distill a FM doc
Hi, guys...about 6-7 years ago, I discovered a techique where I could place a 2-3 line command on a FM page, then when the book was distiled to PDF, the multi-page PDF would be merged into the book PDF and printed as part of the book. The incorporated PDF would print inside the header and footer so pagination could be retained. I now can't find the process that I used. Anyone know what I'm talking about? BTW...if it matters, I'm now on FM11, though this was done at a much earlier version. Thanks. -- John Posada Rock portfolio: http://jposada.zenfolio.com/musicportfolio Twitter: @rockbandphotos Blog: http://jposada.zenfolio.com/blog ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. Chunking FM files into Topics for RH
There is a discussion of how to use markers in Framemaker to control page breaks in RoboHelp at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS9F91508B-AC18-4b72-8FFB-B639F73F4741.html As with most things, there are many ways to achieve the desired outcome. Often combinations of ways work well. I haven't used the markers solution yet, but it seems to me to be a better and easier approach than trying to maintain many different paragraph styles in Framemaker. One marker, such as PageBreak, applied to the FM files everywhere you want RH to break a page would seem to me to be easier to apply than changing paragraph tags. I try to keep my paragraph catalog as slim as possible. Just my thoughts. Re: SOLVED: Cannot find the file named...
That just jogged my memory that we had problems with the User Access Control when we changed to Win 7 last year. We found that double clicking CorelDraw files ran the program but did not open the file (although this did work in PhotoPaint). Nor could we drag a file into a CDR or PP session from Explorer or use Send To. However, changing our User Account Control Settings to "Never notify" solved the problem. I believe we also had to reboot to get this to work. Dave David Artman wrote, on 2/03/2013 8:52 a.m.: Ah, Windows 7 It's always Windows, innit? In this case, it's the much-maligned User Access Control settings. 1) Navigate to Control Panel System and Security Action Center. 2) Click "Change User Access Control settings". 3) Set the slider to Never Notify and click OK. Double-click your BOOK file on your network share and watch it open in FM8.0p277. I have *no* idea how my UAC got tweaked--probably because of driver installations to communicate over a USB Serial Port.
