Making it a text insert seems to have worked fine, including the TOC
hyperlinks in each copy of the TOC.

I have a 1,500+ FM11 book that is divided into two volumes. The book has
a TOC
and Index with both volumes. Both Volume 1 and 2 have covers and the
pagination
starts at 1 for each volume. Everything good. It's also conceivable that
I'll eventually
 have Volumes 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Now, I want to put the same TOC in the front of both Volumes and the
Index at the
end of both volume.. What is the suggested approach?

Are both volumes in a single .book file? Or do you have separate .books for
each volume?

If it's one book:
1. create the TOC and place it in Volume 1.
2. create an empty file where the TOC for volume 2 should go.
3. In this empty file, place the Volume 1 TOC as a text inset.

I found an another annoying bug in FrameMaker 11. You can't remove the Tag
property from a text frame. To reproduce it, follow these steps:

1) Create a new Portrait document.
2) Choose View Master Pages.
3) Use the TextFrame tool to draw out a small text frame on the master page.
When prompted, choose Template for Body Page Text Frame, and type in B for
the Flow Tag.
4) With the new text frame still selected, right+click on it and choose
Object Properties.
5) Delete the B from the Flow Tag text field and click Apply.

When you choose Object Properties again, you will see that the Flow Tag
remains. You can't delete it like you can in FrameMaker 10 and earlier
versions.

This is a big problem that needs to be fixed right away.

Cursor key navigation in tables

2013-03-19 Thread Dave Reynolds
I've done the same thing for years with Ctrl + Shift + arrow key to move
the cursor around within a table. I just chose Ctrl+Shift because they
are beside each other on the keyboard and I find it's an easy movement.

As an aside, I find the ability to create custom keyboard shortcuts one
of the most useful features of Frame. It's saved me a lot of time and
frustration over the years, not to mention thousands of mouse-clicks.

Cheers

Need to get my FM11 styles under control

2013-03-19 Thread John Posada
Rick..im interested. Here's the kicker...im in a super-locked down
environment and to install anything takes an act of god. Does your plugin
require the installation of anything above and beyond FM11. Feel free to
carry this conversation off-list.

John,

I recommend Silicon Prairie Software's Paragraph Tools. It is a drop in
plug-in and it is very inexpensive for a single license.

Need to get my FM11 styles under control

2013-03-19 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi John,

My FindChangeFormats plugin does one format at a time. It doesn't require
FrameScript. I have a FindChangeFormatsBatch that can do hundreds of formats
at once, but it requires FrameScript. If you don't want to buy FrameScript,
you should look at the Silicon Prairie Tools. I haven't used this one in
particular, but their plugins are usually well done (and cheap).

Rick

How do you go about doing this?

attach Caption to floating Anchored Frame

2013-03-19 Thread William W. Saylor, PE
I suspect this is another dumb question:

I am using FM10 on Win7 writing a multi-chapter technical book. Is there a
simple way to attach a following caption to an anchored frame when I let the
anchored frame float? I use the auto-numbering of the figures and
auto-referencing to the Captions extensively.

Thanks,

Bill
