Hi,

Hopefully, it is ok to ask this question here.

Does anyone know if AI has a dimensioning tool, please?

I have used Corel Draw in the past and it had a very easy to use tool, to
enable dimensioning of objects (width, height, etc ).

A quick online search revealed that a plugin is required. Is this so?

Thanks,

Denis

RE: Frame 12 Update Fails

2014-11-28 Thread Craig, Alison
Thanks Craig.

I'd already decided not to install the 3rd patch specifically because of all
the problems I've read about regarding PDF failures.

I upgraded to Frame 12 - from Frame 9 - because I stopped being able to create
PDFs of any kind. After a lot of time and painful trials, I isolated the issue
but there was no fix for it.

I can't risk a PDF problem again, so I'm waiting for a 4th patch (hopefully one
will be forthcoming!).

Allison,

You already have the first two patches. Just install the third. Set a restore
point before doing so, though, in case you run across any of the PDFing
anomalies that have been attributed to the newer version.
I find I have to revert to FM 11 to make certain PDFs. (Since FM12 was an
upgrade for me, I elected to retain the FM 11 installation.)

Can anyone confirm that the Frame 12 version listed above is Frame 12 plus the
first 2 patches? This is the trial version I downloaded and installed last
month and have since converted to a fully licensed copy.

My problem is that when applying the first patch, the update fails. The log

However, if the trial version I installed already includes the first 2 patches,
then I don't care if the first update fails because I don't need it. ;-))

Re: Adobe Illustrator Dimensioning Tool

2014-11-28 Thread David Spreadbury
True, AI does not have a dimensioning tool, at least not in the sense of
AutoCAD, ProE, or similar applications. But, you can manually create dimensions
on your illustrator objects.Take a look at this video
https://video.search.yahoo.com/video/play;_ylt=A2KLqITdoXhUpggAzyz7w8QF;_ylu=X3oDMTBzM3UzbjRzBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDdmlkBHZ0aWQDBGdwb3MDMTA-?p=dimensioning+with+adobe+illustrator&vid=647a3001d42a0728b08befc721d582b4&l=1%3A21&turl=http%3A%2F%2Fts4.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DVN.608010766394131067%26pid%3D15.1&rurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DF1Rcm3JtUR4&tit=Size+Measurements+in+%3Cb%3EAdobe+Illustrator%3C%2Fb%3E&c=9&sigr=11bo7k4sb&sigt=11d03ug6q&age=0&fr2=p%3As%2Cv%3Av%2Cm%3Asa&&tt=b.
It shows how to determine the exact size of an object, or a group of objects.
You can then manually apply the dimensioning lines and place the values in the
appropriate locations. If that link didn't come through, just Google for
'dimensioning with adobe illustrator'.
