MIFML .. http://leximation.com/tools/mifml/
This (free) command line utility converts from MIF to MIFML (and back if
you want). I haven't touched it in years but from what I've been told by
others it still works fine.
You just have to write some XSLT to transform from the MIFML into

MIF to XML may be more straightforward than what I am trying to do (because at
a cursory glance, MIF and XML are pretty structurally similar ... with the
exception of some binary content).
The goal of the MIFreader/analyzer I began last year, was to read and
_understand_ the MIF structure, so t
I think Scott Prentice was developing a MIF to XML converter. To me, that would
give the most options for conversions to some of the other formats. Scott, is
your converter still available? Thanks.

It did not work with FM 2015, and I was working on going the MIF2Go source to
see if I could update it.
Unfortunately, my temporary license for FM 2015 expired before I made any real
progress, so the project stalled.
Now that FM 2017 is out, I suspect it does not work. Although I have the MIF2G
LOL! Thanks Peter. I appreciate the positive spin that you have put on this . .

FrameMaker's original job was page layout.
The only reason it didn't go the way of Ventura Publisher and
PageMaker is that it evolved into an extensible tech docs platform.
Some companies (notably Boeing) built large systems around it. Others

The first time I ever saw FM, it was on a UNIX system, probably FM 2 or
earlier. The tech writer showing it off blew my mind by using FM's built-in
screen capture to shoot the screen and bring in the image, without missing
a beat in the content-creation process. IIRC, there was an option to copy

It was a limitation, ultimately (pun intended), due to SnagIT on Windows 7
Ultimate. Very long story – but the only .pngs that would not open

Hi Framers,
since last week Update 1 for FrameMaker 2017 is available.
We have fixed a couple of bugs and implemented a lot of Feedback that we got
from you. Some modal dialogs were rolled back to non-modal pods, working with

Works / doesn't work?
Assuming it works, is there anything unique in the setup?
I'm a little concerned that FM '17 can save to different MIF formats and
wasn't sure how M2G would handle that.
TIA,

Hmmm. ASCII was the wrong word. Apparently, I wanted ANSI. Sorry about the
confusion. Alt+234 (not 0234) on the numeric keypad is the correct shortcut
in both FrameMaker and other Windows programs for inserting the ohm
